I love to give sugar scrubs gifts at the holidays. They really are very easy to make. They are full of ingredients you may already have in your pantry. And best of all, you can put them in any container you wish (re-purpose something you have to save even more!)
Yesterday my daughters (age 7 and 3) made these recipes for gifts for their teachers. Now of course I let them do everything. So these are simply decorated. You could fancy them up however you chose!
CANDY CANE SUGAR SCRUB (PEPPERMINT)
2 CUPS WHITE SUGAR
1/4-1/3 CUP OIL (I used coconut oil to ensure the scrub stayed white)
5-10 DROPS PEPPERMINT ESSENTIAL OIL
RED FOOD COLORING
Melt the coconut oil until it becomes a liquid. I did this in the microwave. Add oil, sugar and essential oil until well blended.
Separate out half the sugar scrub into a bowl and color with red food coloring. Then put into your jar to make your scrub look like a candy cane.
Label your beautiful creation!
BROWN SUGAR SCRUB
1 CUP BROWN SUGAR
1/3 CUP EXTRA VIRGIN OLIVE OIL
2 TBLS. HONEY
Mix all ingredients and then place it in your jar of choice. Label.
The trick with these sugar scrubs is to get the right consistency. You don’t want them to be over oily. They can be used all over the body to exfoliate and moisturize the skin.
