Repurposed Ideas Weekly #20 – Sawdust sculptures

Welcome to Re-purposed Ideas Weekly Blog Hop where we share our ideas about what we’ve repurposed this week.

Today, I would like to share a kids craft that we did at church relating to Joseph, who was a carpenter. We made sawdust dough and made ornaments for Christmas. You could use this dough to make whatever you like.

Here’s the recipe:

2 cups clean sawdust

I cup flour

Water

Put the sawdust and flour in a large mixing bowl. Add water until the mixture holds together in a stiff dough. You want the dough to be firm sort of like a pizza dough. Before it gets to this point, it will be wet and very sticky.

Once the dough is firm, put it on a piece of wax paper and knead it a little. Then form it into a shape or roll it out and use cookie cutters.IMG_3939IMG_3950

Allow your masterpiece to fully dry before you move it again. This could be a day or up to a week, depending on how thick it is.

Now it’s your turn to share. What have you repurposed this week?
