Re-purposed Ideas Weekly #26 – Chalkboards

Weclome to repurposed ideas weekly blog hop where we share our DIY, craft, upcycled, recycled or thrifty projects.  Chalkboards have become popular again since the creation of chalkboard paint. I decided to join in the fun!

My mom gave me a couple of cool paintings she had in her kitchen for some time. They were beautiful, but I didn’t need another rooster in my kitchen! These were made out of cabinet doors to begin with. So they have been re-purposed one time already. I decided to hold onto them until I could put them to good use.

I had been wanting a chalkboard in the kitchen to write notes for my hubby. Many days, we pass like two ships in the night. So we write notes and make lists for each other often. It would be nice to skip the paper and do something that was a little more “green.”

So here’s how I re-purposed the re-purposed cabinet door! Total cost $20.00 for the paint. I have loads of it left for other projects. Realistically, I spend about $2.00.

You are so clever. I just can’t figure out what you did with the roosters.

Great idea! Love the idea that it’s more green!

Seems chalkboards are very popular right now–and I can see why. Very cute. And as one who’s ALWAYS losing the sticky note–something permanent that won’t get lost–LOL–might be a better plan! Very nicely done, ma’am.

  4. I love this idea! Thanks for sharing this on The Creative HomeAcre Hop! Hope to see you this Sunday at:
