The brown thrasher commands respect with its serious and stern expression. This threatening stare might be well-deserved as this species is known to attack humans as well as other potential nest predators such as snakes and even dogs.
The brown thrasher is a welcome and unusual sight during a northeast Ohio winter.

Now you tell me they may attack humans. I’ll be more careful next time. Thanks for the information.
Like I always say, I am not afraid of the wildlife, but am afraid of the wild life.
Awesome shot of the Brown Thrasher Marlo! The little guy looks pretty intense alright!
Thats a great shot – I often wonder how this bird got its name.

PS: who is Jerry?
Wow…..what an awesome shot. Does he lay in the weeds waiting?! (Jerry…..not the birdie…..we all know the birdie does!)
Very nice shot. Very cool feathers on the breast!
These guys are great at hiding and so that makes this awesome image, even better!
That is one serious looking bird and I think herons look intense, but I have never been chased by a heron. Lovely detail and those eyes.. Thank you for linking up to Nature Notes this week…Michelle

Wonderful shot! It’s one of my favorite, but very elusive, birds!
Beautiful shot!
He does look a very stern bird!! Not a word I would have thought to use for a bird…
